London-Western athlete and UWO varsity freshman (September) Taylor Stewart won Canada's first bronze medal at this year's IAAF World Junior Championships in Moncton, NB.
With a day to reflect on his performance, Stewart described the workmanlike performance that helped get Canada its first medal.
"My coaches told me to use the crowd because everybody was behind me, so I just had to get everybody up, I wanted to put on a show for everybody," he said. "I had (jumped a personal best) the previous day, so I did what I had to do ... but my coach said I came here to do a job, so I had to go and do it."
London-Western shot putter Drew Welch failed to qualify for the final round and finished in 10th in his group with a best put of 17.30m.
Jessica Parry our final entry was 4th in heat 2 of 1500m round 1 this morning, running a PB of 4:19.08 but does not advance onto the final.
